Home EV Charging in Edinburgh
A home EV charger is a dedicated point on the property, cabled back to the consumer unit, for the place the car parks. Pentland Renewables surveys the supply, the cable route, and that parking place, then quotes the charger, the electrical materials, and the labour. The homes are in Edinburgh and the Lothians. Charger grants and a charger VAT rate were outside the official tables checked on 3 October 2026, so this note states the heat pump, solar, and battery rules that were on those pages and leaves the charger price to the quote.
What the visit covers
The consumer unit, the supply, the path of the cable, and how the charger is fixed at the parking place. If the supply needs work before a charger can be added, that work is written into the same quote. Brand and cable length come from the survey. They are part of the quote for that house.
The service page is EV charging. You can ask for solar panels or battery storage on the same form. They are priced as separate scopes after the home has been seen.
VAT rules we could verify
0% VAT on solar installs until 31 March 2027. From 1 April 2027 the rate is 5%. That 0% covers the panels, the cables, the controller, and the inverter, fitted in or on the building. If you only buy the equipment and nobody fits it, VAT is at the standard rate. Houses and blocks of flats both qualify.

The same 0% also covers a heat pump that is fixed in place, and from 1 February 2024 a home battery fitted at the house. The charger itself is priced in the quote.

Funding table we could verify
Home Energy Scotland can pay a grant of up to £7,500 towards a heat pump, and you can add an optional interest-free loan of £7,500. The same amounts apply to air, ground, and water source heat pumps, and to a heat network connection. The heat pump has to run all of your heating and hot water. Rural and island homes can get an extra £1,500 on the heating grant when an advisor confirms the address.
Home Energy Scotland Grant and Loan · correct as of 3 October 2026
The same Home Energy Scotland table lists solar thermal with a £5,000 loan, solar PV-T with a £5,000 loan, biomass, wind, hydro, and heat network connections. Grant funding on the solar thermal and solar PV-T lines is not available. Standalone solar PV and a home battery are not on that table. Heat pump detail is on heat pumps and heat pump funding in Scotland. The grants guide collects the figures.
Planning context for the home
A charger quote follows the electrical survey. Solar on the same house, if you ask for it, follows the national householder rules, set out on solar panels for Edinburgh homes and the Edinburgh page. The workshop is Unit 2b Eastfield Industrial Estate, Penicuik, EH26 8HA.
Send the postcode, where the car parks, and the other work you want priced through the quote form. We survey the home, then send the quote.
How the charger job is written down
The quote names the parking position, the cable route along the wall or across the drive, the work at the consumer unit, and the labour. If a supply upgrade is required, it is a line in that document. You see it before any work is agreed. The charger can be the only item, or it can sit beside a solar scope and a battery scope from the same survey. Each line is priced for the house.
Edinburgh and the Lothian pages explain the planning rules for solar and heat pumps on those homes. A charger enquiry uses the electrical survey described here. Heat pump funding, for a household that also wants heating priced, is the Home Energy Scotland grant of up to £7,500 and the optional loan of £7,500, on the grants guide and heat pump funding in Scotland. Correct as of 3 October 2026.
The workshop is Unit 2b Eastfield Industrial Estate, Penicuik, EH26 8HA. Send the postcode and a note about where the car parks through the quote form. We survey the home, then send the quote. Solar panels remains the page for the array, and home batteries with solar PV covers storage.
The contact form is the same form used for solar, heat pumps, and batteries. Choose the charger, add any other scope you want priced, and describe the parking place in the message. We look at the supply before the quote is written. There is a single next step on the contact page. Midlothian, East Lothian, West Lothian, and Penicuik are the other area notes, each using the national planning circular for solar and heat pumps.
0% VAT on a heat pump install at your home until 31 March 2027. From 1 April 2027 the rate is 5%. A household that wants heating and a charger looks at heat pumps and EV charging together. The charger line stays the electrical scope described above.
