The 24-Hour Energy Lifecycle
Harvesting
Solar generation begins. Node charging prioritized.
Saturation
Nodes reach 100%. Surplus diverted to EV or Grid.
Deployment
Reserves take over as sun sets. Zero grid usage.
Maintenance
Node maintenance and optional off-peak grid charging.
Octopus Flux & Time-of-Use
Arbitrage Algorithms.
The fastest way to drop your winter energy bills to zero is not just solar—it is smart grid-arbitrage. Paired with Time-of-Use (ToU) tariffs like Octopus Flux or Intelligent Octopus, your home battery turns into a micro-investment asset.
During the night (typically 2 AM to 5 AM), grid electricity rates drop to as low as 7.5p per kWh due to low national demand. Your smart battery automatically triggers to import and charge itself fully from the grid at this cheap rate. During the morning and evening peaks, your system decouples from the grid and runs entirely on this stored, ultra-cheap power. Additionally, you can export excess solar generation during peak grid hours for up to 30p+ per kWh, pocketing the arbitrage difference.
