The Home Energy Scotland (HES) grant is a direct, non-repayable government subsidy of up to £7,500 designed to help owner-occupiers and self-builders in Scotland replace fossil fuel systems (gas, oil, or direct electric) with high-efficiency air source heat pumps. This is a cash voucher, not a loan, and is fully integrated with zero-interest loans to cover any remaining system costs.
